The following are basic requirements that must be met to participate in this grant program, the participant must:
 
1.   Must have a valid Colorado/Wyoming driver’s license or State ID
       2.      Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident
       3.      Must be enrolled at a Workforce Center or be a Union Member
 4.   All male participants must be registered with Selective Service

Training Provider:  CCD (Community College of Denver, Performance Solutions)
 
BPI Certification Course Description: This training program will help students prepare for the Building Performance Institute’s Building Analyst written & field tests. You’ll learn how a house works as a system, why some homes fail, and how to use the latest science technology to help resolve residential problems like heating/ cooling/ base load and leakage. By using a “whole house” performance-based approach, you’ll address a comprehensive range of interrelated building issues and be able to provide your clients with a more comfortable, safe, durable and energy-efficient home. This course is fast paced and requires advanced reading and other preparation.
 
Pre-requisites
 
  • Must understand basic Building Science (through experience and/ or education); may substitute college certificate in “Residential Analyst”.
  • 2+ years previous experience in construction required or successful completion of the iCAST Fundamentals of Energy Efficiency course
  • Strong basic Algebra/ math skills
  • Literacy: must be able to read at High School + level
  • Able and willing to climb ladders, crawl into confined spaces
  • Criminal background: violent & sexual offense/ theft felons may have problems obtaining employment but are not prohibited from taking this course
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer keyboard navigation skills
  • Basic calculator skills
  • Reading must be done in advance of the course
  • Math assessment is required
 Scheduled Course Date(s): Training Successfully Completed - No New Students Will Be Accepted
This course includes 2 days of classroom time, 1 day of Field work, then a half day of review and online testing. With the successful completion of the online written test, participants will continue to a 2 hour field exam.
