College Connection - Construction Industry
This course is for construction industry professionals who want to pursue a college degree, and want preparation for the rigors of college-level work. This course does NOT grant college credit.
Format:
This is a "Hybrid" course with online self-study modules, and optional "live" class sessions. Students who cannot make it to live class can participate via teleconference or webcast. Eligible students from all over Colorado and Wyoming are welcome!
Topics covered:
- College study skills
- Reading and writing
- Critical reading/thinking
- Problem solving
- Math: basics overview, algebra, some geometry, applied formulas
Schedule:
The Hybrid format of the class requires students spend time viewing videos online, doing homework and exercises, reading, writing, taking quizzes and other assignments. The format is flexible, so no set schedule is required. Optional "live" sessions will be scheduled at a later date.
Math class - estimated 30 hours to complete
Reading/ Writing/Study Skills classes are under development, will be available August 2011, and require an estimated 70 hours to complete.
Dates:
Math- Students may start class immediately upon completion of assessment; flexible start dates.
Reading/Writing/Study Skills will be available August 2011.
