The following are basic requirements that must be met to participate in this grant program, the participant must:
 
      1.   Must have a valid Colorado/Wyoming driver’s license or State ID
      2.      Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident
      3.      Must be enrolled at a Workforce Center or be a Union Member
4.   All male participants must be registered with Selective Service

BPI Certification Course Description: This is a nationally recognized certification that is becoming mandatory for energy efficiency workers.  This training is to help you secure employment or to increase your employment value in the expanding home performance market. Experts will guide you through the classroom and field training processes, while you perform the following in each home: Building Science, Building Shell - Parts of a Home, Insulation, Doors & Windows, Moisture, Review for Shell and Moisture, Building Air Flow, Basic Blower Door Operation & Air Leakage, Duct Leakage & Duct Blaster, Review for Air Leakage & Flow, Mechanical Systems, Appliances/Lighting, Indoor Air Quality, Data Collection, Combustion Appliance Zone Theory and Testing.
 
Certification: BPI Certification
 

Prerequisites:

  • Must pass the pretest for BPI administered by iCAST
  • 2-3 years construction experience preferred
  • Interest in the Energy Efficiency Field, e.g., auditing/installations
  • 8th grade math skills (Algebra)
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable with crawling around in crawl spaces, attics and other confined spaces
  • Drivers License & Transportation
  • Felony convictions may preclude you from some employment opportunities in this industry
